Every cycling event has something that makes it stand apart from others. Sometimes it’s an over-the-top amount of climbing or it’s a visually spectacular route or maybe it’s an inhumane, murderous, ultra-distance done in the dirt and dust. (Dirty Kanza anyone?) Whatever it is that makes an event unique, there is nothing quite like CLIF Bar's CampoVelo in Napa Valley.
CampoVelo features up to three days of bike riding through the gorgeous Napa Valley with its picturesque vineyards. In between rides, attendees enjoy unbelievable food prepared by Chef Chris Cosentino, winner of “Top Chef Masters” and several other award-winning celebrity chefs. And of course, there's always the wine. Steve Matthiasson, Food & Wine Magazine's "Winemaker of the Year" will be there to walk with you through the finest wines the Valley offers.
Now don't think there isn't any serious riding going on at CampoVelo. Each day offers rides and routes on road and dirt for cyclist of all levels. Sunday’s 80 miler is especially challenging, with a trip up the notorious Ink Grade climb. The good news is that the rest stops along the way are in a league of their own, with food prepared by world-class chefs.
